To mark International Safe Abortion Day 2025, Abortion Support has released a new educational video that demonstrates the process of self-managing a medical abortion at home and underscores why access to accurate, evidence-based information is essential to health and reproductive autonomy.

The short film walks viewers through the medically approved process of ending a pregnancy with pills, portraying what abortion at home is like for women and pregnant people who choose to self-manage. It follows Abortion Support’s Executive Director, Victoria Satchwell, as she documents her own abortion, describing the physical sensations – such as pain and bleeding – alongside the emotions and reflections that accompany it.

“Without clear, accessible information, misinformation and stigma dominate the abortion landscape,” said Satchwell. “By sharing my own abortion process on film, I want to show that when people have the facts, they can make safe, informed decisions about their own bodies and safely self-manage their abortion at home.”
